interest in medicinal plants as a Botanist. After initially pursuing a career
in Medicine, I came home one day and told my parents I had decided to study
Botany, intending to branch into Microbiology. My parents were initially
shocked, but they eventually gave me their full support.

My love for plants began in my early years as a Botanist,
where I developed a fascination with the medicinal properties of various
species. I was captivated by how different cultures had harnessed plants for
healing, skincare, and overall health for centuries. This knowledge of
medicinal plants laid the foundation for my understanding of how nature
provides solutions to many ailments.

As I studied botany further, I discovered the power of
plants like aloe vera, sea buckthorn, moringa, and shea butter—ingredients
that have stood the test of time in traditional medicine. Little did I know
that this botanical wisdom would become essential in my personal life and,
eventually, my business.

After earning my degree in Botany, I pursued a career as a Biomedical
Scientist in Microbiology, where I spent over a decade studying the
interaction between microorganisms and the human body. This scientific
experience gave me a deep understanding of the skin’s microbiome and how
external factors can disrupt its balance, leading to conditions like dryness,
sensitivity, and infection.

Through my microbiology background, I learned that effective
skincare must work in harmony with the body. Every product I create is
based on this knowledge, designed to respect the skin’s natural defences while
providing nourishment and protection.

A Personal Health Journey: Healing from Within

My passion for natural healing deepened when I faced my own
medical challenges. During a difficult illness, I turned to the philosophy of “food
as medicine”, making changes to my diet that greatly contributed to my
recovery. This experience gave me a new appreciation for the holistic
connection between what we consume and how our bodies—and skin—respond.

The more I learned, the more I embraced the idea that what
you put on your skin is as important as what you put in your body. With the
skin being the largest organ, I became determined to create products that are

A Mother’s Love: Inspiration for My Formulations

My journey as a formulator became even more personal when my
youngest son, now 26, was born with severely dry and sensitive skin.
Watching him struggle with discomfort and irritation from conventional products
was heartbreaking. Determined to help, I began creating plant-based oils for
him. Over the years, I refined these formulations, and the transformation in
his skin was remarkable. His skin became softer, healthier, and much less
reactive.

For over two decades, I crafted these products with love and
care, always seeking the best plant-based solutions. His journey inspired me to

Heritage and Tradition: Lessons from My Grandmother

My connection to natural skincare is also deeply rooted in
my upbringing. I grew up watching my grandmother apply shea butter to
her skin daily—nothing fancy, just pure, natural shea butter. Her skin was
radiant, and I marvelled at how such a simple, traditional remedy could be so
effective.

These early memories of my grandmother’s skincare rituals
have always stayed with me, reminding me that the best solutions are often
found in nature. Shea butter continues to be a cornerstone of M'ṣará Botanicals
products, representing the wisdom passed down through generations.

My experiences as a botanist, biomedical scientist, and
mother have shaped my guiding philosophy: what we apply to our skin should

As an IT consultant, I developed problem-solving

online presence to managing inventory systems, my technical expertise helped me
navigate the challenges that many entrepreneurs face, allowing me to focus on

As we celebrate the first anniversary of M'ṣará
Botanicals, I reflect on an incredible journey filled with growth, learning,
and immense gratitude. From humble beginnings in my kitchen, we have expanded
into a fully equipped laboratory/workshop, meeting the increasing demand
for our natural body care products.

Over the past year, the positive feedback and testimonials
have been nothing short of inspiring. Knowing that our products have brought
joy and comfort to so many people has been the driving force behind every new
creation.

One of the major highlights was participating in the Black
Expo Exhibition 2024, where we proudly showcased our products to a broader
audience. Our online sales have grown, and we've attended at least
five maker and artisan markets. We were also honoured to present at a
conference, discussing the benefits of plant-based formulations and the
philosophy behind M'ṣará Botanicals. 
We have become a spot on souvenir supplier for most elegant and sophisticated
corporate and social events across the world.

None of this would have been possible without the immense
support of my family, especially my children. Their encouragement and belief in
